As we say good-bye to ’13 Rooms’, don’t dismay – our friends at the Museum of Contemporary Art have kindly accepted the ‘performance art relay baton’ so you can keep getting your performance art fix (minus the 13 Rooms).
The MCA have just launched ‘Workout’ this week, a seven-day exhibition featuring seven great Australian performance artists. Featuring artists like David Capra, who ran a ‘13 Rooms’ movement workshop and Jodie Whalen, who was part of our ‘Parlour’ late night program, Each artist has a single day to present temporary works using the body and everyday materials, drawing on the double meaning of workout as both a strenuous exercise routine and a test of performance capability.
‘Workout’ finishes up this Sunday 28 April
Artists: David Capra, Domenico de Clario, Brian Fuata, Sarah Goffman, Agatha Gothe-Snape with Susan Gibb, The Motel Sisters (Liam Benson and Naomi Oliver) and Jodie Whalen.
Be sure not to miss it, and check out our video - featuring Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Elizabeth-Ann Mcgregor speaking to John Kaldor about this years fantastic performance art season in Sydney.
