Internship in Curatorial Research & Archives

Kaldor Public Art Projects is offering an internship position with our Artistic Programs team to support research and planning for the 50th anniversary of Kaldor Public Art Projects in 2019.

If you are a student or recent graduate in curatorial studies, arts administration, information studies or similar, this is an amazing opportunity to gain hands-on experience in curatorial research and archives management with one of Australia’s leading arts organisations. The successful applicant will have a working knowledge of contemporary art. You will be willing to learn and undertake self-driven research tasks with support and mentoring from our experienced Artistic Programs Manager.

This is a volunteer position.


  • Work closely with our Artistic Programs Manager and liaison with our Archivist and Curatorial team 
  • Undertake research to collate documents and capture oral histories that have relevance for the KPAP archive and 50th anniversary 
  • Support general 50th anniversary or project research, administration and development where required           


  • Student or recent graduate in curatorial studies and publishing; arts administration; records and archives management; or related disciplines 
  • Availability of at least one day per week for a period of 3 months
  • Working knowledge of contemporary art 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication 
  • Excellent research skills 
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritise tasks according to deadlines 
  • Administration skills, including Microsoft Office Accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Positive attitude, initiative, dedication and willingness to adapt to changing circumstances 
  • You will need to provide your own laptop computer


  • Experience with journalism and/or conducting interviews 
  • Experience with content management via excel or database systems 
  • Experience with fundraising research and applications
